WHAT'S NYI'S UPTIME GUARANTEE?
We offer a 99.9% uptime guarantee; but you should expect
no network related downtime as our network infrastructure
is set up completely redundantly (multi homed, multiple
providers, multiple physical paths) and allows for little
to no issues arising from localized upstream outages. For a more complete answer, please check our Service Level Agreement
DOES NYI PROVIDE STATISTICS FOR BANDWIDTH USAGE?
Yes - all Colocation and Dedicated Server clients can
view their bandwidth statistics here.
HOW SOON CAN I BRING MY EQUIPMENT AFTER SIGN UP?
Client may bring the equipment immediately after sign
up.
WHAT'S NYI'S POLICY FOR SPAM?
NYI holds an anti-spam policy. That means that a service
may be terminated as a result of several complaints about
spamming from your server.
WHAT ARE NYI'S TERMS AND CONDITIONS?
You can review our policy at http://www.nyi.net/policy.html
CAN I VISIT NYI'S DATA CENTER?
Please call (212) 269-1999 or email
us to set up an appointment for your visit at NYI's
Data Center. Click here for the virtual
tour.
CAN I UPGRADE THE PACKAGE DURING THE CONTRACT PERIOD?
Absolutely. NYI's Colocation solutions are flexible and
scalable. Just go to our Upgrade
Center to add on whatever services you are interested
in.
WHAT KIND OF SUPPORT IS AVAILABLE?
NYI provides 24/7 network support and Level 1 support
for the clients that is operated through our online Help
Desk system.
WHAT SUPPORT SERVICES ARE PROVIDED AT NO EXTRA CHARGE?
There are no charges for minor administration duties (i.e.
FSCK, start a service, etc.). Reboots are included to
a certain degree and if they are excessive we will recommend
a remote reboot device so that the server can be rebooted
over the internet.
HOW DOES THE 30 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE WORK?
If you are not satisfied with the service within 30 days,
you can cancel the service and receive a full refund.
Please note that setup fees are non-refundable.
HOW OFTEN CAN I COME AND WORK ON MY SERVER(S) COLOCATED
AT NYI'S DATA CENTER?
NYI's Colocation solution offers 24/7/365 access capability
to your server(s). There are no additional charges associated
with it.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN COLOCATION AND DEDI-SERVER
SOLUTIONS?
Dedicated servers are more entry level than colocation
solutions. One would get a dedicated server when they
require more customization than a simple virtual account
can offer. A colocation solution allows you to utilize
any hardware that is necessary in order to fulfill your
application's needs (whether it be dual processors, complex
raid configurations, etc.) Furthermore, if there are several
servers necessary to satisfy your needs, a colocation
solution would be more prudent as it allows you the flexibility
to set up your own network and migrate additional servers
in as needed.
WHAT KIND OF NETWORK DOES NYI'S DATA CENTER HAVE?
NYI's network is Top Tier Gigabit-based with direct links to
Uunet, Level 3, Digex, PSI, Sprint, and peering points. Read more here.
WHAT SECURITY FEATURES ARE IN PLACE AT NYI'S DATA CENTERS?
Our building is manned 24 x 7 by security personnel and
only customers who are on the clearance list are allowed
unrestricted access. Furthermore, once they reach the
data center, they are required to give a biometric thumbprint
to enter the facility.
AT WHAT CAPACITY LEVEL DOES NYI KEEP ITS NETWORK?
New York Internet always maintains the utilization at
15 - 20% capacity.
WHAT FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM IS IN PLACE?
NYI has a building provided fire suppression system in
place in addition to several environmental monitors that
are strategically placed in the data centers and are constantly
observed.
DOES NYI MANAGE COLOCATED SERVERS?
Colocation solution implies that the client will provide
the administration for his/her server while NYI is responsible
for the stability and functionality of the network. The
operating system installation (or reinstall) is as far
as we will go; the rest of the administration must be
done by your administrators remotely once the server is
online.
HOW CAN I GET A PRICE ON A MORE COMPLEX ORDER THAT IS
HARD TO PRICE OUT WITH THE QUOTE GENERATOR?
NYI offers Request for Proposal section where with the
help of the Order
Center, potential clients may submit their specific
requests. NYI's sales staff will immediately work on it
and reply to you.
WHY DOESN'T NYI UTILIZE BANDWIDTH FROM LOW COST PROVIDERS SUCH AS WILLIAMS AND COGENT?
We do not utilize networks such as Williams and Cogent
because of their reputation in the industry. While they
are the cheapest wholesale bandwidth solution out there,
they attract clients of an illegitimate nature; that is
spammers, adult web hosts, irc servers, etc; and this
causes their network to be undesirable at the more mission
critical level. We maintain transit from only top tier
providers such as UUNet, Level 3, Qwest, Allegiance Telecom,
etc. as well as peering connection with public exchanges
such as NYIIX.
In the long run, you will be much better off with non-Cogent
bandwidth as it is sure to provide more stability and
lower latency. There are companies out there that offer
uncapped or unmetered bandwidth and claim a full 100 Mbps
for your connection, but often times this is an oversold
connection to a second or third tier provider. It is in
your best interest, as a reputable, growing Internet company,
to figure out your network utilization and put your servers
on a good network with the correct amount of bandwidth
allotted; rather than a poor network that makes unrealistic
promises. |
