A case in point is yesterday’s announcement of “Logjam.” This flaw in the Transport Layer Security protocol that allows an attacker to force a downgrade of the encryption used between a vulnerable server and browser, making any subsequent traffic much easier to decrypt once captured.
In order for the Logjam attacks to be successful, the server must be configured to allow use of the cryptographically-weak DHE_EXPORT cipher suites, which are limited to 512 bits. Our FTW service has consistently supported only the strongest security protocols and ciphers that are supported by modern and recent legacy browsers and therefore does not allow use of the DHE_EXPORT cipher suite or any other “weak” ciphers.
