Overview
A lot has transpired since we last communicated including the establishment of some significant partnerships that extend NYI’s interconnection services, the addition of new clients at all our locations, the development of new capabilities at 60 Hudson Street, and NYI’s continued participation in key industry events.
New Partnership with GIX
NYI has partnered with Global InterXchange (GIX) at 60 Hudson Street in New York City to launch the first fiber route via the Port Authority of NY & NJ PATH Tunnel. The partnership allows customers to gain access to the newly built, high-capacity dark fiber network on a unique, business-critical path connecting Lower Manhattan and Northern New Jersey. Development of New Fiber Optic Services
NYI is happy to share that we are in the process of developing new capabilities @60 Hudson Street in the area of fiber optic cable testing, splicing, and termination. These services will support our continued commitment to remove complexity and cost for clients by eliminating the expense, delays and logistical challenges typically involved in the use of third-party fiber testers. Reach out to your customer service rep to learn more.
From Digital to Quantum
As the operational partner of QTD Systems at 60 Hudson Street, NYI is proud to support their efforts to commercialize Quantum technology and the Quantum internet. QTD stands for “Quantum to Digital” referencing the integration of Quantum to Digital infrastructure available to customers at the QTD Systems facility. QTD is actively designing with its high energy physics research subsidiary, Novum Industria, the equipment and technology to build the Quantum ready data center. NYI Technicians are being trained to operate the future quantum technology being installed and tested at QTD to continue its level of service into the quantum realm.
QTD Systems has made substantial progress in this area, with several new Quantum technology customers recently coming on board.
SpeQtral, a leader in quantum communications technology based in New York and Singapore has selected the QTD data center facility for the establishment of their satellite entangled source Optical Quantum Ground Station. Their Long Distance QKD System operates with a quantum channel and is being integrated to QTD partner dark fiber networks. The initiative aims to enable secure quantum key exchange between Singapore, the United States, and Europe, safeguarding global financial transactions through quantum-safe communications. SpeQtral is leading the effort to make and launch satellites loaded with quantum key distribution (QKD) technology. By pairing QKD nodes in space with transmitters and receivers on Earth, it will be possible to send quantum-encrypted communication around the world without needing fiber-optic cables. QTD has partnered to established an additional downlink site in Australia.
Qunnect, a pioneer of hardware to transform telecommunications infrastructure into scalable quantum networks with quantum memory technology has established a quantum node at QTD. Mehdi Namazi, Co-founder and Chief Science Officer at Qunnect believes the partnership will enable Qunnect to engage in innovative, multi-node entanglement experiments between Manhattan and their GothamQ hub in Brooklyn which will help accelerate Qunnect’s growth in NYC and the region. QTD is integrating this technology into its partner and owned dark fiber infrastructure to complete a NYC Quantum network that also goes to NYU and Columbia. QTD anticipates the next milestone to include an interstate leg of the quantum network.
Navigating the Future of Connectivity
Phillip Koblence was delighted to participate in a July DCD Broadcast with Alex Dickins about Navigating the Future of Connectivity. The timely, engaging, and wide-ranging discussion included topics such as the critical role of connectivity in making AI a reality for end users, the nuances involved in supporting different AI workloads, and the continuing importance of carrier hotels in making it all happen.

Celebrating the Growth of Interconnection in New York
In early June, NYI CO-Founder and COO Phillip Koblence was honored to serve as emcee for the New York Interconnection Summit which celebrated 10 Years of the Internet Exchange DE-CIX in New York and provided critical history and insights into why New York, with the help of DE-CIX, leads the way in terms of providing carrier and data center-neutral Internet access in North America. NYI is a longtime DE-CIX partner and host to DE-CIX PoPs at 60 Hudson Street and NYI Chicago.

Giving Back: Update on the Nomad Futurist Foundation
The non-profit Nomad Futurist Foundation, co-founded by NYI COO Phillip Koblence and futurist Nabeel Mahmood to raise awareness of the digital infrastructure industry and inspire newer generations to join it has been growing.
Expansion of Global Reach
The Foundation has onboarded ambassadors in different regions — Europe, Asia, and Australia and Nomad Futurist leaders have participated in key regional events, including the Pan African DataCentres Exhibition & Conference (June 23-24) held in Johannesburg, and the Sydney Cloud & Data Center Convention (September 12). The conferences provided opportunities to share with new audiences, the urgent need to address the global data center workforce gap through teaching digital infrastructure fundamentals.
NYI is a proud sponsor of the Nomad Futurist Foundation.
