1Q Summary
The first quarter of the year is typically a busy time and this year has been no exception with new clients coming on board at our 60 Hudson Street facility in New York and our Chicago data center in Oak Brook.
1Q is also a time for learning and gaining industry insights, particularly given the constantly changing digital landscape and evolving needs of our customers.
A Key Conference Theme: Artificial Intelligence
During the first quarter, NYI participated in key industry conferences that set the stage for 2024, starting with PTC in Hawaii. A key theme that popped up frequently at PTC (Honolulu), MetroConnect (Fort Lauderdale) and DCD (New York) was Artificial Intelligence and the impact it will have across industries and on the world of digital infrastructure.
There is a lot of demand being driven by AI and as a result, a new wave of data center construction is underway across the country. There is also a fair degree of hype around the topic and we anticipate that some of the new build will end up being used for a combination of AI and traditional compute.
NYI Participation in Industry Events
In this age of AI, cybersecurity presents an ongoing and escalating concern. NYI Co-Founder & COO Phillip Koblence joined Matthew T. Baldy – Americas Data Security Business Development Executive @ IBM, Robert Novo – Head of Network Engineering @ Oracle, Elisha Olivestone – Director Business Development & Channel Partnerships @ Waterfall Security and moderator Alex Dickins @ DatacenterDynamics in an important debate on cybersecurity at the DCD Connect conference in New York City.

Giving Back: Update on the Nomad Futurist Foundation
The non-profit Nomad Futurist Foundation, co-founded by NYI COO Phillip Koblence and futurist Nabeel Mahmood continues to raise awareness of the digital infrastructure among newer generations. Most recently, on March 19th, the Foundation partnered with Data Center Dynamics to bring over 100 college students to the DCD Connect conference in New York City, a premier industry event. The panel discussion: “Data Centers need you! What can the data center industry offer the next-gen workforce” generated a lot of interest. The Foundation is actively partnering with data centers nationally to create industry internship opportunities for both high school and college students.
NYI is a proud sponsor of the Nomad Futurist Foundation’s important mission to help ensure the future of the digital infrastructure industry.
